a real event! do you bathe your kids together... will they get in together? is bath time an EVENT in your home too?

good morning...

waking up with wheels on my feet this morning! Oodles of... shop happenings... home happenings... school happenings... well... you name it it's happening!

YOU KNOW... you're nutty busy today too!
Hoping the "imaginary" wheels help me just roll right through it! :)
Why don't we all strap on some wheels... might be kind of fun! :)
Roller derby Monday!

Here's to a wild ride of a day...
taking on those hills with a "weeeeee"! :)

oh... and a little early mother's day fun (thanks Nonny)...

"Why God made moms"
answers given by elementary school age children:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did! God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me.
He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones.
Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other Mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your Mom?
1. My Mom has always been my Mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook?
Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year?
Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your Mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to
because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms works at work & works at home, & dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause
that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic. They make you feel better without medicine.

What does your Mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your Mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect.
Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mom,
what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean.
I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know
it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on her back.

this tagging thing...

Why is it that I could not come up with six unimportant things about myself?

For some odd reason... I found this hard! It's ALL important right???? HA HA!

So... Kate of all trades... Just sweet Bean... Hip mom of Boyz... Simply Lanny and any other crazy gal that tagged me... here you go! :)
  • you will never catch me far out in the ocean like this... my nutty friend Sophie! i say "far out"... barely over my knees... Jaws IS out there and I know I would be tasty! :)

  • i would bathe in Mexican food if I could... well maybe not bathe in it... BUT... i could certainly eat it every day... hands down!

  • i go to the bathroom ATLEAST five times during the night... it is crazy... but normal for me... always been this way!

  • i am not a dress kind of gal... i like to feel pretty... i just can not wear skirts or dresses... very rare! i basically look like a dork if i do... and it feels "too breezy" to me! :)

  • showers only! we lived in our last house approx. six years i think i took about three baths the entire time... and that was only (TMI... get ready) because i HAD to sit in a sitz bath after giving birth! :) sorry... you were warned! :)

Okay... i think that was six! I really think everyone has been tagged that i run with... IF you have NOT... please DO SHARE! :)

spring... spring... spring is here...

what... SNOW... this morning!

Our flip flop toes are gonna freeze!

4.30.2008

hop faster...

Okay... ran over to Glenwood Springs today (had to drop off the 'ol vehicle for service)... beautiful... gorgeous... will go back very soon for some to enjoy! Lots of fun to be had there! The girls were great for the trip... a movie DOES wonders! Had a little girly lunch... it was nice!

I do not know what the deal is! Is it the hawks... coyotes... what... BUT we had to have a burial service for another sweet little bunny! This is the third one! This desert... living in the "wild" thing... is not my cup of tea! The poor little precious thing! The girls... to them it's like thumper or peter rabbit! We said a prayer & I had to find a proper place! I know that bunny is already hopping through the gates in Heaven with a big fat juicy carrot! :)

Sneak peek of the shop update... will be up tomorrow! cuff-ola!

Happy Wednesday evening!
I'm off to try to rationalize having an ice cream sandwich for dessert! :) XOXO

way back... wednesday

What better to post about today... on way back day... than Jennifer! An old friend found me! Well... she actually found my little sister... but still! :)
How fun is THAT! We went to high school together and even lived together... with two other awesome gals... in the 90's! Jenn is one of the most upbeat... charismatic... geniune people around! She was always one of those girls you wanted to strive to be! A real gift!

Oh... those were the days! I am guessing here (why did I not date pictures... lesson learned) that this was about 1991 ish? When plastic shorts & yes bows were the thing! We were creating our very own "cutes" to wear in our hair!

Four of us girls lived together... Jenn... Ashley... Miranda and me of course! Oh my gosh... just thinking about them! Some of the best times in my life! Jenn reminded me that we lived in an apartment complex called Green Oaks... if I recall... we called ourselves "the Green Oaks babes"! OMGoodness! Do you think we thought we were cute?

I am finding out so many fun things... I could not be any more thrilled to be back "in touch"! What a treat! Jennifer... thank you! Big hugs to you!

So...

Here is to ALL my friends! I love you!

friendship is like a puzzle
each friend you have is a piece

some are on the border
some are close to the center

each brings out a piece in us
that makes us who we are

thank you for being
an important piece in my life

what would you do...

you're at the dreaded DMV... been there for hours... your little one drops her sucker ON THE DIRTY GROUND... some other people see this happen... there is no where to rinse it off... you do not want to lose your spot in line (good gosh... I did NOT want to lose my spot in line) ... you do NOT have a back up sucker or treat... what would YOU do?

really...

Yall are cracking me up with your answers!
You're so right I gave that thing right back to her! :)

The sad... really bad mommy thing... I DID NOT lick it first... I didn't want to! Oh! That sounds terrible! For some reason this time... I was not licking! :)

The only thing I had in my purse was my checkbook... which I never carry... I only had it because we were going to the DMV... they are not up with the "times" yet... thank goodness... the good 'ol paper checkbook is still good for something!

LOL to all you gals! :)

bookcase shuffle...

With all the bookcase drama...
not be able to get the one my heart was set on...
I had to do some rearranging. Still might need to...
not wild about the placement of the new one... shoot!
Oh well... at least it gets more books out of hiding.

This one was moved to a niche right outside the girl's room...
making better use of the space.
The little gals love having it there too!
Riley calls it the book store... too cute!

This is the new Sundance shelving.
Good golly... if you could have seen me trying to put that thing together!
Hubby came home last night and said...
"that is industrial shelving"... uh YEAH...
not sure how he feels...
fortunately he leaves all "the home decor decisions" to me!
I really like it!
It's strong... minimal... classic and yes... industrial!

My favorite thing about the new shelves! The wheels!
I love furniture with wheels... casters... character.
Okay... enough about bookshelves!

Wishing you a bright day!
Here's to doing what makes your heart sing... today!

cups of life...

Remember that mack truck from yesterday... it was a team of mack trucks! I am so serious... somebody do something! :)

I have to say... one thing I am struggling with now living in "the desert" my skin is not dry... it is past that point! My skin is in shock! Going from living in a sauna everyday (Houston) to now living in the Sahara! My skin hurts! I would love some advice from some of you lovely ladies in the area! Help! I am going to turn into a tortilla chip! Do tell! Have any advice? Pleeeeeease! :)

I am faced this morning with a smorgishborg of things to do! You know... Monday! I am ready to get it going just trying to figure out which cup to jump into first? My goal... get my "crispy" hands on some treats for the shop! The shop... oh yes! She is so special to me and she has been neglected! Again... other cups of responsibilities getting in the way! :)

So... here's to today! A day full of cups that are over-flowing with things to get done... oh yes... BuT as I will try to remind myself... these "cups" ARE gifts!

Cheers!

help me... i can't get up...

I feel like I have been run over by a mack truck... and our house looks like that same mack truck drove through it!

We have been working on the house like a couple of crazy people! I think I thought about lunch at 4 pm... bit late... you know when you just get so busy... it skips your mind. That's okay though... we just ate BIG! :) Managed to whip up some sort of chicken spaghetti dish for dinner. It WAS good!

I have done everything today from cleaning out the garage to planting new shrubs... and way too many crazy things in between... for ONE day! Nutty! You know those days! I'm tired with a capital "T"! Cooked... like a broiled tomato! Beat like a big 'ol pot full of mashed potatoes! Done! :)

a peek at the 75 foot long retaining wall we've been building

campbell made piggy & cow a hideaway

my poor little queen feet are dirty & GROSS!

family room furniture in the kitchen at one point... what

Jason... you'd be impressed... working like a dog

So... after a huge day... I think we made a dent...
hopefully a big dent! :)

4.26.2008

psssst...

oh happy day... oh happy day! Happy... fun things from Little Bit Funky... in my mailbox!

I can hardly believe the detail! How much love... I know was put into making each and every one of these treats! Is it possible to be in love with a tag!?!?

Pssst... wanted to share that this great gal is running a special in her Etsy shop this weekend! Oh yes! Buy one item... get 50% off the next item! She creates the most beautiful cards (love)... actually lots of goodness to be found! Take a peek... may find something that makes your heart sing too! Her personal blog is packed full of fun too!

oh happy day... oh happy day...

4.25.2008

field trip...

Well... it was no "Houston"!
Certainly small town Botanical Gardens... but still fun for all!
I think I maybe saw five butterflies... seriously!
There were huge coy fish... fat frogs...
sleepy turtles and pretty flowers though!

the bus ride was a hit

really great... brilliant yellow... BIG sculpture

these were SO cool... really BIG metal flower vines

the ONLY butterfly I got a pic of... really

the tropical flowers WERE awesome

queen of the mountain

I would say all in all... it was a "fly" day!

fly high...

happy Friday...

The girls & i are stepping out today to spread our wings a bit. We are visiting a butterfly exhibit with Cambell's school! All i know... if ALL we did was ride the school bus around all afternoon... the girls would be all smiles! They can hardly wait! Something about those big yellow bread boxes on wheels makes my girls scream with glee! It should be interesting... to say the least!

So... here's to a day where we open our eyes...
open our arms... open our hearts... and fly a bit!

4.24.2008

those bugs again...

girls come on let's brush your teeth...
we've got to get all those sugar bugs out of there!

"mama... there are lady bugs in my teeth...
see... GIRL lady bugs!"

she says the darndest things!

bugs... buds... a big ugh

You know we are finally warming up when the fuzzy little bugs start venturing out from their winter digs! This particular caterpillar was quite the speed racer... you could barely hold on to him.

I have to say I am loving all the great flowers & buds peeking out right now! The superb thing about living somewhere with "true" seasons... outstanding color & vibrancy in the Spring! Almost like they are waking up from a long winter's nap to say "hi"!

A while back on a post I had mentioned my excitement about a new bookcase I had on order! I have been looking for one about six months... when I found this gem.
Well... a big ugh... unfortunately the company I ordered it through phoned the other day... they had to cancel all back orders on this piece! what! I was crushed! The lady that called was SO nice! This was a new item for them and when they arrived they had major quality issues. I felt really bad for them... they are having to call all customers (130+) and tell them the news... what a big loss for them! Get this though... they are sending me a 75 dollar gift card for the inconvenience! How cool is THAT! Things like this happen... not their fault. Frankly I love the fact that they are a great company not willing to sacrifice quality and stand up for great customer satisfaction! I just love them!

The good news... I did find one "somewhat" similar over at Sundance... casters and all! :)

So... here's to a truly terrific Thursday... which reminds me... I completely forgot about way back wednesday yesterday... go figure... I'm a nut that can't keep her days straight!

May today be full of beautiful buds... the best is still yet to bloom!

sweet spot

tagged by this seriously WIRED woman!
seems pretty simple... here goes!

1. Pick up the book nearest to you & go to page 123.
2. Find the fifth sentence.
3. Type & post the next three sentences after the fifth one.

This book was actually in the computer armoire... Max Lucado's Cure for the Common Life. Oh how I love this book!

Childhood tendencies forcast adult abilities. Read them. Discern them. Affirm them. Cheerlead them.

yeah... i added two more "sentences" ! :)

One of my favorite "sweet spots" in this book says...

"Sweet spot. You have one, you know. Your life has a plot; your years have a theme. You can do something in a manner that no one else can. And when you find it and do it, another sweet spot is discovered."

How cool is that! Made by the hand of God... we are all very special.
We are you-nique!
